The attractive and long-lived Ponderosa Pine is native to the western United States and Canada. Featuring long, dark-green needles bundled in threes and handsome, scaly, plated, deep cinnamon-red bark. This is a very large pine reaching up to 220' in the wild and more commonly 60-125' in cultivation. It is also a very important timber tree and the state tree of Montana. This species was said by John Muir to 'give forth the finest music to the wind', listen and see! S/M-D
