Also known as the Chihuahua white pine, a little known species from northern Mexico and the southwestern United States; a fast-growing, upright species to 90' with blue-green needles in bundles of five, the bark on young trees is a silver-gray aging to a furrowed red-brown, large cones with edible seeds that are dispersed by the Mexican jay; typically grows intermixed with other conifers rather than in pure strands.
