The Olea europaea 'Superdwarf', commonly known as the Superdwarf Olive, is an ultra-compact, slow-growing broadleaf evergreen shrublet highly prized for its structural density and adaptability to confined root zones. A specialized selection of the classic Mediterranean olive, this miniature variety naturally develops a very tight, multi-branching framework clothed in small, elliptic leaves featuring a deep sage-green upper surface and a reflective, silvery-green underside. In spring, it produces inconspicuous white blossoms, but it operates as a sterile, completely fruitless cultivar, entirely eliminating the litter and staining associated with agricultural olive trees. Reaching a restricted mature size of 4 to 8 feet in height and 3 to 5 feet in width, its dwarf proportions make it an exceptional candidate for high-end topiary work, formal low hedging, xeric borders, and patio container culture. It thrives in high-heat environments with all-day sun, possesses excellent salinity tolerance, and requires sharply draining soil, exhibiting superior drought resistance once its root architecture is fully established.
