Pearlbloom perfectly describes the round pearly buds on the 6-8" panicles which open to be fragrant creamy-white flowers making their appearance on red stems in late summer to early fall, iridescent bronzy spring leaves deepen to dark-green before turning yellow in the autumn; this beautiful 20-40' tree/shrub is native to the mixed forests of eastern and central China, brought to the U.S. by E.H. Wilson in 1908 it has become an appreciated addition to the landscape. S/M
