This widespread North American native is the northern most representative of the citrus family, and the only family of plants on which the giant swallowtail butterfly will lay its eggs! The small greenish-white clusters of flowers appear in April with nectar attractive to many butterflies and other pollinators. It has a shrub-like habit reaching 15'-20' tall and 12'-15'wide.
