Product Overview
Catalina Cherry is a beautiful evergreen tree/shrub native to California, predominantly found growing in the Channel Islands region. This beautiful specimen most often takes a rather shrubby form 15-20'in height, but mature specimens can easily form an upright tree to 30-40'. The pretty, white blossoms are borne in racemes which bloom in the late-spring. Leaves are medium green, shiny, and can be rather variable, sometimes entire and sometimes with some of the spines associated with straight ilicifolia. The fruit is edible but it has more skin and seed than is palatable to most people. The fruit was an important part of the diet of some Native American tribes. This is an excellent plant for dryland landscapes, wildlife garden and hedges; the fruits are known to stain concrete so be careful in placing it. S/M-D
