A wonderful addition to the hardy edible garden! Attractive 6-8' shrubs are extremely hardy and easy to grow; white spring flowers become dark-red cherries in summer (resist the urge to pick these when they are bright-red, they need to be very dark before they are truly ripe!), the fruit are very high in antioxidants and could be considered a superfruit, these sour cherries are good for making preserves, pies or fresh eating.
